What is mar roxas?

Mar Roxas, born Manuel "Mar" Araneta Roxas II on May 13, 1957, was a prominent Filipino politician. He hailed from a politically influential family; his grandfather was former Philippine President Manuel Roxas.

Roxas served in various governmental positions throughout his career. He was a member of the House of Representatives representing the 1st District of Capiz from 1993 to 2000. Following this, he served as the Secretary of Trade and Industry from 2000 to 2003 under President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. He later became a Senator from 2004 to 2010.

In 2011, he was appointed as the Secretary of Transportation and Communications under President Benigno Aquino III, a role he held until 2012. He then served as the Secretary of the Interior and Local Government from 2012 to 2015, also under President Aquino III.

Roxas ran for President of the Philippines in the 2016 elections but was defeated by Rodrigo Duterte. He had previously run for Vice President in 2010 but lost to Jejomar Binay. He was known for his advocacy on economic development and good governance.
